Medical Assisting Program Description
A Medical Assistant is a professional multi-skilled person who assists a physician. This person performs duties under the direction of a physician in all areas of medical practice. Patient care management includes preparing treatment and examination rooms, taking vital signs, possible assisting in minor surgical procedures, giving injections, venipuncture, assisting in laboratory operations, possible radiography procedures, and electrocardiograms. In addition to the clinical aspects, a Medical Assistant's function in an administrative capacity includes maintaining patient records, billing, scheduling appointments, ordering supplies, and handling insurance claims.
