The Athletic Training staff of the Flagship campus has been recognized  for saving a life!  Richelle Hammock, MS, ATC, LAT Head Athletic Trainer and Lindsay Moccia, ATC, LAT Assistant Athletic Trainer were conducting physicals when they were alerted to an emergency across campus.  A student ran to the athletic training facility to alert the ATs that a security guard had collapsed.  They grabbed an AED and rushed to the scene.  When they arrived Hammock began to administer CPR with the assistance of team physician Anand Panchal, DO while Moccia manned the AED.  Their efforts were successful and the man’s condition stabilized.  A few weeks later, after he had fully recovered, the security guard returned to personally thank the staff.

The Athletic Training staff is an integral part of the success of our athletic teams on the Flagship campus.  Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions. Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA), Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an allied health care profession.
