As part of their Sports Marketing and Promotions class at the Daytona Beach campus, Mr. Graifer’s Sports Marketing and Promotions class at the College of Golf and Sport Management had the unique opportunity to travel up the road to visit the St. Lucie Mets organization to discuss real world applications of sports marketing.

Kasey Blair, Manager of Group Sales and Community Relations and Lauren Mahoney, Manager of Sales and Corporate Sponsorship graciously took the class on a tour of the facility at Tradition Field before bringing the class up to the owner’s box to discuss the nature of marketing in Major and Minor League Baseball. The students learned a lot  about sponsorships, minor league promotions, and what makes a minor league team successful.

The class was also treated to a rare opportunity to see the New York Mets on the field as they stopped at the facility on an off day to prepare for a series with the Tampa Bay Rays. New York Mets team Captain David Wright, who has been out of action since April with spinal stenosis, took batting practice on the field while the students and instructor looked on from the air conditioned suite. For this lucky group from Keiser University, it was a great day to “Meet the Mets!”
