As an assignment in their Cross-Sectional Anatomy class, Diagnostic Medical Sonography students were required to build and present a 3-dimensional model of the upper abdomen to include specific organs, vessels, and ducts while integrating sonographic images demonstrating correct image orientation and anatomy. During the presentation, the students were also expected to correctly explain the location of the various organs and structures and how they relate to each other anatomically. This project helps each student learn how to correlate a 2-dimensional ultrasound image with a 3-dimensional structure (the human body).
