Back in the fall of 2015, our Medical Assistant students volunteered at Centra Care to give back to the community during flu season. This is a local Urgent Care in Daytona Beach. Several of our core students visited with the Program Director and  instructors to administer 350 free flu vaccinations to the public. There were numerous people who attended this event and flu vaccinations were administered to many children, adult and geriatric patients. Our students were able to experience “real life” patient interaction and almost all of the flu vaccinations were administered. This not only enhanced the relationships of Keiser University and the community but allowed our students to master the skill of injection administration. We even had the students in the Radiologic Technology program visit for their annual flu vaccination. Centra Care already has KeiserU on the books for this coming flu season’s events! They repeatedly informed us of how impressed they were with the professionalism and clinical skills of our Medical Assistants.
