Over 50 members were in attendance for the bi-annual Advisory Board meeting at the Fort Myers campus.  The meeting started with a general session hosted by Campus President, Nancy Tedros, Dean of Academics, Pam Johnson and a special visitor from our Office of The Chancellor’s External Affairs Department, Jon Miller.  During the general session, for our new members,  President Tedros overviewed Keiser University’s mission statement and some “fast facts” to give the members a better understanding of our history and our “Students First” philosophy.  President Tedros also discussed updates about the university, and Mr. Miller talked with the members about opportunities to build stronger partnerships in the community.  Employer Appreciation awards were then given to four employers.  Bayfront Health in Punta Gorda for being an excellent Clinical site for our Diagnostic Medical Sonography students, and also for hiring several graduates.  The Seminole Casino Hotel in Immokalee and The Visitor’s Convention Bureau (VCB) for both offering great employment and internship opportunities for our Hospitality students.  The VCB has also partnered with the Hospitality program on assisting student with receiving their ServSafe certifications. The Lee Memorial Health System was presented with the Employer Choice plaque that they were awarded with during our Statewide Commencement ceremony in January.  Several Lee Memorial staff and Board Member, Therese Everly, were present to accept the award.  Then the members received lunch while in their breakout sessions for each program.  The programs received excellent feedback in regards to our programs and several partnership and employment opportunities were discussed for the university and the students.
