The Occupational Therapy Assistant Physical Disabilities class had the pleasure of a guest speaker Ms. Ashley Dallal CHT, OTR/L who has over 15 years of experience in hand therapy. She presented a power point on fabrication of Orthotics and then demonstrated how to make a pattern and fabricate a cock-up splint. Ms. Dallal covered the characteristics of different orthotic materials, precautions. She also demonstrated the fabrication of Gutter orthotic,  and Short Thumb Spica.  Hand therapy and Orthotic fabrication are two different specialty areas of practice within the Rehabilitation field.  Students were excited to have such a seasoned professional spend time sharing her knowledge.
