Last year, The Gang Alternative President Mr. Michael Nozile came to the Ft. Lauderdale campus and facilitated a leadership workshop on “Following Your Passion to Create a Successful Career”. Although this event was sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society it was open to all students. During the workshop he spoke candidly about the challenges he experienced leaving his corporate job to start a non-profit organization which he had no experience. This workshop was particularly valuable to former honors Bio-Med student April Griffin who, after this workshop, changed her major to psychology realizing that was a better fit for her. As the old expression goes, “What goes around comes around” and when Dr. Emmanuel Touze, Program Director for the Health Services Administration and outgoing Chairman of the Board for The Gang Alternative approached Phi Theta Kappa about conducting a fundraiser to benefit the organization it was a unanimous “Yes!”. The PTK members hosted a Dress Down Day and raised $381.50 which was then donated and presented to Mr. Nozile and his Chief Operating Officer/Senior Program Director Mirva Cadet, M.S., Ed. S, CRC.
