Members of the Physical Therapy profession worldwide were challenged to give back to their communities in a day of service. The Student Physical Therapy Association (SPTA) at the Ft Lauderdale campus volunteered at the Dania Beach PATCH. The PATCH, People’s Access To Community Horticulture, is a community market garden that grows fresh, healthy, and pesticide-free fruits and vegetables to improve access to these foods for neighboring residents. Despite the wet start to the morning the students were able to work in the gardens to weed, clear and prep a section of the garden to plant Everglades Wild Tomatoes. The Physical Therapist Assistant students didn’t mind getting a little soaked and muddy and really enjoyed the experience.
