- Science pre-requisite courses must have been taken within the last ten years. The Physician Assistant Program requires the student to earn a grade of C (2.0) or better in each of the following:
• College Math or higher (3 semester credit hours)
• English - Minimum of 3 hours in English Composition
(6 semester credit hours)
• Humanities (3 semester credit hours)
• General Biology or Zoology with laboratory (4 semester credit hours)
• General Chemistry I and II with Laboratory (8 semester credit hours)
• Microbiology with laboratory (4 semester credit hours)
• Biochemistry or Organic Chemistry (3 semester credit hours)
• Social Sciences (3 semester credit hours)
• Human Anatomy & Physiology with laboratory (8 semester credit hours)
• Genetics (3 semester credit hours)
• Behavioral Sciences (6 semester credit hours)
Prospective students are selected by the PA program admissions committee. The prospective student will be evaluated on the following qualities: interpersonal skills, personal motivation, knowledge and understanding of the physician assistant profession, academic performance and level of achievement, life experience, quality and length of prior health care experience and letters of recommendation. Personal interviews will be offered to the most qualified applicants to assess interpersonal and communication skills, maturity, integrity, altruistic attitude and commitment to the physician assistant profession.
An admission decision is based on a combination of the student’s undergraduate
grade point average, writing assessment, healthcare experience, three letters of
recommendation to include:
- A Physician Assistant
- Any practicing Healthcare provider
- A personal reference
-AND-
physician assistant shadowing, community service-volunteering, and interview. A
personal interview is required for admission and granted at the invitation of the
PA program. Please note: an interview is not granted to all applicants.
