Dr. Hanan Abdallah and the students in the Graphic Arts & Design program at the Pembroke Pines campus recently visited Commercial Printers, Inc., in Fort Lauderdale. Commercial Printers, Inc. is one of Florida’s ten largest printing, mailing, and custom envelope facilities. On site, students learned firsthand about printing procedures to create presentation/pocket folders, brochures, flyers, prescription pads, as well as various other business forms. The visit also afforded students the opportunity to learn more about such in-house print operations as color separation, custom printing, embossing, personalization and variable data imaging, and die cutting. This up-close look into the workings of a print house offered a unique opportunity to students, since Commercial Printers, Inc. is one of the best and largest national printers specializing in full-color, black–and-white printing, custom mailing, and custom envelopes. Afterwards, students had the privilege to meet with the owner, Mr. Jeff Runde, who answered questions about design development, printing production procedures, costs, and materials.
