At the Glade Springs Hotel and Conference Resort in West Virginia, the Keiser University Club Golf Team finished 11th in the National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA) National Championship. The University of South Carolina won the competition, the University of Alabama was second, and Stanford University placed third. The NCCGA includes over 400 Colleges and Universities which field non-varsity club golf teams. The National Tournament field consisted of 30 teams with the best records in the regular season.

The Seahawks fought difficult weather conditions on Saturday to finish the round in 17th place. On Sunday, the team was led by a trio of 74’s from Rob Libiszewski, Brad Costa and Team Captain Raphael Tolentino. Rounding out the scoring were William Graves and Zachery Luce with 80 and 81 respectively. The best five scores from the eight team members were used each day.

Team members Ben Kassman, Sampson Marino and Brad Holden also played vital roles, especially on Saturday when a continuous cold rain (temperatures in the 40’s) and two protracted fog delays contributed to bone-chilling 12-hour rounds!

In the individual competition, with a field of over 250 players, Keiser’s Rob Libiszewski finish tied for sixth, posting two rounds of 74. His148 total also placed him on the All-Tournament Team.

Team Coach Frank Longabucco said, “I’m very proud of the way our team hung in there and made such a great comeback!” PGA faculty member John Callahan, who accompanied the team to West Virginia, added, “I was most impressed with the fact that three members of our team (Graves, Libiszewski and Tolentino), without any prompting from me, practiced their golf during a two hour wait for the trophy presentation after we finished our play on Sunday. Out of the hundred plus participants that waited, they were the only ones who practiced. It shows their passion for the game and bodes well for their futures in the golf industry.”
