Lakeland Community Relations Coordinator Maria Martinez was recently honored by the Lakeland chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA). Maria is the recipient of this year’s ‘Woman of Excellence’ award. Candidates for the award were nominated based on lifetime achievement both personally and professionally, community involvement, and leadership within the association. Maria’s leadership role within the association was enhanced by the development and execution of the inaugural Women’s Leadership Symposium & Academy; a place where women from across the nation came together to learn, rehearse, and master the art of leadership. The Lakeland campus is proud of Maria’s accomplishments and extends a heartfelt congratulations to her and the local ABWA chapter.
My instructors believed in me. They were more than instructors, they tried to get to know you as a person and tried to understand your goals so they could push you towards them. Student services helped me find a job before I even graduated. Everyone was dedicated to my overall success.
