Recently, the Melbourne campus participated in a Stand Down held in Titusville,. The Melbourne SVA organized 12 student volunteers, along with Kevin McGarry (SVA Faculty Advisor) and Michelle Lugo (Nursing Faculty) as escorts and/or manning different stations for Veterans-in-Need. After a veteran signs in, they are assigned an escort who makes sure they get to the station providing whatever services they may need.
All-in-all there were 194 veterans from Brevard and surrounding counties, including Indian River, East Orange and South Volusia.
My instructors believed in me. They were more than instructors, they tried to get to know you as a person and tried to understand your goals so they could push you towards them. Student services helped me find a job before I even graduated. Everyone was dedicated to my overall success.
