New Port Richey’s Medical Assisting instructor Sandra Hart prepares her students for the final exam in Lab Procedures I.  The students have spent the month practicing their procedures, and despite their initial fear, they have gained a new confidence to prepare them for the medical assisting field.  Students shared about their experience learning who to draw blood.  “I was scared and shaking at first, but after I practiced, I was excited to come to class and practice more,” says Brittany Gilpin, who left her job as a restaurant server and decided to study medical assisting.  Student Ashleigh Voelker says “It’s the fear of the unknown that makes it hard.  You don’t know what it’s going to be like and how you will personally handle it, but then when you come to class, you get a lot of confidence.”
