The Pembroke Pines campus joined the National Poetry Month celebrations by holding a poetry reading arranged by the Writing Studio. The auditorium was filled by those who wished to hear poetry selections read by guest poets Barbra Nightingale and Myra Ron, both noted South Florida poets. The event began with Yvette Acebo, Dean of Academic Affairs, reading a poem by Maya Angelou. Poetry readings by the two guest poets followed. Talented Keiser University, Pembroke Pines students Jassu Kenneth and Maria Ricardo also participated by reading sections from their writing. In addition, KU faculty and staff members, Dr. Robert Deranian, Dr. Aubrey Franklin, and Noorina Mirza showcased their literary talents by reading their own poetry compositions. The event concluded with Dean Acebo presenting award trophies to Barbara Nightingale and Mayra Ron, and certificates of appreciation to participating students.
