Program Description
Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Pharmacy Technology prepares students to assist pharmacists in dispensing medications in a retail or hospital pharmacy environment. Focus on pharmaceutical nomenclature, sterile IV preparation, compounding, disease states and state and federal regulations relating to pharmacy operations ensures students are fully prepared to function as pharmacy technicians.
Program Objectives
The following objectives are designed to meet Keiser University’s mission and its objectives.

To develop a student’s ability to process, fill and prepare prescriptions and physicians’ orders

To assist students in becoming more proficient in drug nomenclature, sterile IV preparation, compounding and state and federal regulations

To help students develop skills to effectively translate prescription orders and to prepare medications for dispensing

To prepare students for jobs as pharmacy technicians in retail or institutional pharmacy environments

Prerequisites for Major Courses
Statement of good health signed by student, background check and drug screening when applicable

To receive an Associate of Science degree in Pharmacy Technology, students must earn 64.0 credit hours. Program requirements are as follows.
