KU Port St. Lucie uses “Spirit Days” to assist  local 501(c)(3) charities. Spirit Days occur on the last two days of the academic month. Students, faculty and staff who wish to participate pay $1 to wear any KU logo shirt with their jeans, scrub pants, or mid-calf-length capris. The campus will assist a different charity each month. February is one of a few “locked-in” months where each year the campus helps the same charity, or the same type of charity for that month; Each February, the campus assists Friends In Pink.

Friends In Pink (FIP) was formed by a dynamic group of breast cancer patients, survivors and supporters on the Treasure Coast.  They’ve assist men and women with the financial, emotional and psychological burden of breast cancer. FIP provided bracelets for KUPSL to sell for $1 each during the month of February and during Spirit Days. Proceeds go to the people they help, most of whom are from St. Lucie County. FIP brochures were also available during the month.

With Spirit Day participants, bracelet sales, and people giving just for the sake of giving, the campus raised $231.35 for Friends In Pink.
