The Sport Medicine and Fitness Technology students from the COGSM campus attended the US Department of Agriculture’s “U.S. Horticultural Research Laboratory” annual open house. Because they are studying “Nutrition and Weight Management” this term, the field trip allowed them the opportunity to see what is taking place in nutrition research. They were able to tour the fruit processing plant, insectary, greenhouse, and farm. During the tour, they learned about a range of topics including genetics, crop pest, disease control, and more. During the field trip, they were treated to a delicious lunch which used locally grown fruits and vegetables.
