The Biomedical Science students put their knowledge and skills to the test in a recent lab about bacteria. The students were tasked with a project called The Unknown to see how well they could each utilize their skills in aseptic technique, gram staining, and physiological tests to determine the type of bacteria they were given. Students successfully identified their unknown samples of E. coli, S. aureus, P. aeruginusa, P. mirabilis,  M. luteus.

Methods like these can be adopted by the medical field to identify the unknown pathogen afflicting a patient. In finding the specific bacteria, physicians can appropriately prescribe the most efficacious therapy.
