ENC 1101 students recently finished off their Summer B term analyzing community problems and presenting their solutions. A few of those topics included texting and driving, homeless veterans, emergency room wait times, negative role models, vaping regulations, and teen sex consequences. Students discussed new technology applications, volunteer opportunities, staffing and scheduling, and educational tools as solutions. The assignment involved a combination of learned composition strategies, including cause and effect, persuasion, and problem/solution, along with required research. The final project was presented to the class audience, resulting in lively discussion about these important issues in their lives.
