Tampa’s BSFI students performed impression analysis from various sources, such as firearm casings and projectiles, toolmarks, footwear evidence, and bite marks. The students first observed the general class characteristics of the impressions and then searched for individualizing wear-patterns created during use. This type of forensic evidence analysis is crucial in solving criminal cases through linking potential suspects to a crime scene.  By following strict scientific methodologies, students are able to extrapolate evidence that may not be visible at first inspection.
