Judge Gregory Holder and Ret. Col. D.J. Reyes presented visited the Tampa campus to participate in the Legal Corner Lecture Series.  The topic was: “Veterans Treatment Court – A Second Chance For Veterans Who Have Lost Their Way.”  This court is a unique court that deals with the special needs of Veterans, such as those dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury, depression, as well as drug and alcohol dependence.  Professor David Fernandez stated, “Unlike most courts in the United States, the VTC takes a comprehensive approach involving the Court, Prosecutors, Public Defenders, the Veterans Administration, the County, and the Defendant.”  Attendees included Keiser University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and local community constituents.  The Legal Lecture Series is ongoing at the Tampa campus and is organized by Legal Studies instructors David Fernandez, J.D. and James Pingel, J.D.
