Chi Rodriguez, a 33-time PGA/Champions Tour winner, recently visited the Keiser University Flagship Campus and conducted an outstanding Short Game Clinic for Flagship Campus College of Golf students.

Chi Chi shared stories of his illustrious career and what it took for him to reach the heights of success playing professional golf. He recounted his childhood in Puerto Rico, his service in the U.S. Army, and his initial struggles to make it on the PGA Tour. His engaging personality captivated the students, many of whom were not born before Chi Chi retired from competition. His explanation and demonstration of how to play “flop” shots and bunker shots had the students clapping in appreciation.

Following the clinic, Chi Chi gave individual lessons in the bunker and signed autographs for the students. Chi Chi has garnered numerous awards, including the 1986 Hispanic Recognition Award, the 1988 Hispanic Man of the Year award, the 1989 Bobby Jones Award, and the 1989 Old Tom Morris Award. At 80 years old, Chi Chi is looking to begin competing again, having played in the recent Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf Tournament at Top of the Rock Golf Course in Ridgedale, Missouri.

The staff and students of the Flagship Campus wish Chi Chi the best of luck in upcoming competitions.
