The students in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program –  Cohort 7 were learning about Physical Agent Modalities (PAM)  in Physical Dysfunction.  They researched specific topics like:  Tens, NMES, hot packs, cold packs, paraffin baths, fluidotherapy and ultrasound.  Then they  invited the new OTA students (Cohort 9) to be a part of the clinic where they demonstrated techniques and equipment and discussed why, how and when the modalities would be used.  This event occurs each time OTH 2420 is taught and we have found it helps the new cohort get to know some of the more experienced students.  It also gives the new cohort an idea of what they have to look forward to.  The older students gain much needed practice in being “an expert” and talking to patients (the other students).  This activity took place during class in the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Lab.
