FORT MYERS

For SummerFest Open House, Keiser University Fort Myers teamed up with Destiny Diaper Bank, a local non-profit organization that provides Diapers to student mothers and fathers.  There was a lot of activity on campus the entire time. The Open House kicked off with a special breakfast in honor of Father’s Day.  Guest feasted on Pancakes, Sausages, Biscuits and Orange Juice all generously donated by local area restaurants. (200 Sausages from McDonald’s, 200 Biscuits from Cracker Barrel, Orange Juice from Sun Harvest, Pancake Mix from BJ’s & Costco).  There were 27 vendor booths set up in the front parking lot selling a wide range of different items (handbags, clothes, jewelry, shaved ice).  The Lee County Sheriff’s department came to campus and provided kid’s fingerprinting, k-9 demonstration and Identity theft presentation.  We also had on campus the Mobile Mammography Unit and Be The Match (test for bone marrow donors).  The highlight of the Open House was the Destiny Diaper Bank Fashion Show held in the atrium of the Fort Myers Campus.  Current Keiser University Students dressed up in beautiful dresses from one of the vendors who came to the Open House.  Keiser University Students and Employees served as escorts for the ladies on the runway.  Our Open House concluded with a visit from the Fort Myers Fire Department.  They brought a fire truck to campus so that kids could get an up close look at it.  The June 20th Open House was successful in that Destiny Diaper Bank raised $3,000 for the great community work that they do.
