Advanced Nursing Students sharpen their IV and fluid administration skills in the Simulation Lab.

The high fidelity SIM Man provides the opportunity for students to experience realistic simulations. He breathes; has pulses, bowel, heart, and lung sounds. He even speaks. For this particular simulation, Radiology students join us to learn how to work together to care for the patient. A 22 year old unhelmeted male was involved in a motorcycle accident and thrown 20 feet. The students learn how to protect the cervical spine and work around the constraints of the backboard. They perform a complete head to toe trauma assessment with all appropriate interventions. This is always an exciting day in Melbourne and this event is held twice per semester.
My instructors believed in me. They were more than instructors, they tried to get to know you as a person and tried to understand your goals so they could push you towards them. Student services helped me find a job before I even graduated. Everyone was dedicated to my overall success.
