Several Sweetwater Senior Center residents were recently presented COVID Care Packages complete with inspirational cards thanks to Keiser University Miami campus National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) members.
Led by Associate of Science in Nursing Faculty member Jasmin Evangelista, the effort was borne because of a desire to give back to the community. Group members shared that they take pride in finding ways to show how much their Keiser University campus cares for area friends and neighbors, and despite challenges, they enjoy dedicating the necessary time and resources to help those in need.
Delivered to Director Aymet Chaples, the care packages will be raffled to seniors throughout the week.
Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Nursing prepares students to practice professional nursing. Professional nursing involves the performance of those acts requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skill based upon applied principles of biological, physical, psychological and social sciences. The nursing practice of a professional nurse includes but is not limited to:
- Assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care
- Health teaching and counseling of individuals who may be ill, injured or infirm
- Promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness of others
- Administration of treatments and medications as prescribed in accordance with the standards of nursing practice
My instructors believed in me. They were more than instructors, they tried to get to know you as a person and tried to understand your goals so they could push you towards them. Student services helped me find a job before I even graduated. Everyone was dedicated to my overall success.
