Orlando’s Occupational Therapy Assistant Physically Disabled class fabricated a functional cock-up splint. They learned about the benefits of the use of orthotics to then learn how to actually fabricate one on their own. Splints are used in Occupational therapy for many reasons such as: preventing contractures, immobilization of a joint to provide healing and decrease further damage of soft tissue, to promote joint integrity etc.
