Tallahassee Intro to Baking students went on a field trip to Lofty Pursuits, which is a local Victorian candy, and ice cream store. The students got to tour the kitchen, learn about classic candy making, and were invited to take part in making classical Peppermint Candy Canes, with current Tallahassee Keiser Baking and Pastry extern Maggie McLellan. After the demo, our guide and candy maker, Maggie McLellan showed the class several antique candy tools, and discussed how the techniques and favors of non-crystalline candies have changed over the past fifty years.
My instructors believed in me. They were more than instructors, they tried to get to know you as a person and tried to understand your goals so they could push you towards them. Student services helped me find a job before I even graduated. Everyone was dedicated to my overall success.
