Prepare for Your First Class

Time Management is Important

Take the time to organize and prioritize what you need to complete each day for class, work, home, and you. Take out your cell phones and place the deadlines on your calendar.

Course Registration

Students are registered for their courses at the time of the admission decision, one or two classes per term.

If a schedule needs to be altered, the student and their academic advisor can discuss the curriculum change which is then communicated to the Registrar and Financial Aid.

Student Orientation

Welcome to Keiser University! The Graduate School Student Orientation course is on your course list on the Blackboard platform.

The resource includes steps 1 - 8 to help you access the online learning environment. You proceed at your own pace and complete steps 1 - 8 at your convenience.

We offer two Keiser Live sessions where you can join in real-time and ask questions. Please use your login credentials from your admissions counselor to access the course. We are delighted that you have entered the Keiser University family. You are now part of an engaged academic community of learners and educators here to help you excel academically and professionally.

  • Verify and accept your Financial Aid Funding plan.
  • Confirm that your schedule is complete and then rent or buy the hardcopy or digital textbook(s) required for the course(s).
  • Order your Official Transcript from your undergraduate or graduate institution so it is received by the Graduate School Registrars by the end of your first semester.
  • Have Outlook365 ready which includes your KU student email.

Program Expectations

Graduate students will have different requirements to complete their program depending on the level of the program, residency requirements and if a dissertation project is associated with the degree.

There is support available for students, and the key is communication.

Do not allow worries to meet a deadline, funding, schedule, or personal issues to deter you from your academic goal. Reach out to the appropriate staff or faculty for assistance.

As a Keiser University graduate student, you will be expected to log into class on Monday, the start of the term. Please review the syllabus and expectations for each new course and meet the discussion and assignment deadlines as instructed. Most courses are eight weeks in length and require the student to post on the Discussion board by Wednesday each week and respond to students in their course, as stated in the syllabus. Thereafter, students are expected to substantively respond to no less than 3-4 other student’s discussion posts as well as complete any other assignments by Sunday at 11:59pm EST. Please review your syllabus in detail for a more complete list of course expectations and deadlines.

Important First Steps
