Professional Experience
My professional nursing journey began with the completion of a BSN from Florida State University in 1999. I earned my MSN as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Miami in 2004 and currently practice clinically at the University of Miami Hospital. In 2013, I obtained a PhD in Nursing from Florida Atlantic University. Presently, I serve as the WHNP Program Director at Keiser University. Additionally, I am President of the Nurse Practitioner Council of Palm Beach County and contribute as a member of the conference committee. I also serve on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health, where I participate in the Licensure, Accreditation, Certification, Education (LACE), Conference, and Student Membership committees.
As a professor, I like to create an environment that is conducive to learning — a place where students can immerse themselves in the specialty of women’s health and gender related care as they assimilate and learn information, concepts, and/or skills related to the specialty. Learning is not a passive process, it requires motivation, effort, and persistence. Students enter the learning environment with a commitment to scholarship, a willingness to work, and a sense of personal responsibility toward achieving their educational goals. I strive to be the educator who provides an environment that is challenging yet supportive.
