Stephen Hume serves as University Department Chair for Information Technology, Management Information Systems, and General Computer Studies, and as Program Director and Professor in Digital Forensics and Cyber Security at Keiser University. He works with faculty and academic leadership to strengthen curriculum, support students, and connect classroom learning with career expectations. His work includes coordinating master-course development and signature assessments, addressing learning outcome alignment, and helping resolve textbook, publisher-platform, and course-access issues. He also develops proposals for practical AI integration and gathers faculty feedback to guide course improvements. His approach emphasizes hands-on learning, faculty collaboration, and clear pathways to technology careers. He also brings teaching experience in advanced technology at Indian River State College.

Industry Military and Community Leadership

At Marine Bank & Trust, Stephen served as Vice President, Information Security Officer, and Information Technology Officer. He worked on FDIC technology examination readiness, the transition to hybrid virtual-terminal networks, and coordination with Jack Henry on banking technology needs. This experience informs his emphasis on balancing information security, operational reliability, and the needs of the people using technology.

As a Security Specialist in the United States Air Force, he supported physical and technology security operations in Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, and Africa. He provided security for General Mark Welsh during his command of U.S. Air Forces in Europe and worked with NATO counterparts to support security for Supreme Allied Commander Europe Admiral James Stavridis. His military service developed his experience in risk assessment, operational discipline, and multinational coordination.

As a Director with Concerned Veterans for America, Stephen worked with local veterans’ organizations and universities to organize phone banks and outreach operations. He participated in meetings with members of Congress, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and other government entities to advocate for veterans’ benefits and rights.

His community leadership also includes service as President of the Veterans Council of Indian River County and as a Board Member of Coastal Connections. He brings his background in education, technology, and veteran advocacy to community collaboration, with an interest in partnerships that support veterans, coastal conservation, and educational outreach.

“My goal is to help students build the confidence and practical skills to use technology responsibly, solve real-world problems, and follow a clear path to a career in their chosen field.”
