The Fort Lauderdale campus’ Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) sponsored a seminar for all Occupational Therapy Assistant students on the topic of documentation. SOTA executives earned leadership points by preparing the seminar, promoting and marketing it, teaching students, and evaluating outcomes. The documentation seminar included SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan) note and goal writing using the COAST (Client, Occupation, Assistance level, Specific condition, Time frame) method. The COAST method of documentation is used in occupational therapy practice in order to focus on clients, occupation, assistant level for function, specific conditions needed and timelines for achievement.
