The COGSM Sports Medicine and Fitness Technology class went on a field trip to the “PGA Village Club Verano”. The Club was offering a Health Fair to its members. Our students performed various assessments including: blood pressure, heart rate, height, weight, BMI, flexibility, % body fat, and hand grip strength assessments. Over forty club members took part in these fitness screenings; the highlight of the event was the honor to work with Mr. Louie Wolfson, a retired Special Ed Physical Education instructor. At the tender age of 97 years young, Mr. Wolfson entertained us with stories of his work with his students and amazed us with his fine physical condition. Our students reaped the benefits of gaining the valuable hands on experience and also did an outstanding job in representing our program in our community.
My instructors believed in me. They were more than instructors, they tried to get to know you as a person and tried to understand your goals so they could push you towards them. Student services helped me find a job before I even graduated. Everyone was dedicated to my overall success.
