The Criminal Investigations class took part in a mock crime scene investigation on the Tallahassee campus. They were split into two teams of investigators and it was their assignment to take control of a violent murder that took place in the parking lot of the KU campus. The teams were asked to control the crime scene, canvass the area, photograph, collect, and analyze any evidence that would help them determine the facts of the crime. The students did a great job in analyzing the crime scene and leaving no leaves unturned. The alleged murder weapon was found and has been sealed and sent over for analysis.

This was a great opportunity for students to get an idea of how police officers dissect and manage a crime scenes in the field.   Following proper protocols and procedures, as well as maintaining safety at all times was the focus of this assignment. The students also submitted a detailed report documenting their experience and the findings they discovered.
