West Palm Beach Nursing students Emmah Barngetuny, Sonise Joseph, Claude Murray, and Yolanda Campbell participated in a national study for pressure ulcer prevalence at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Pressure ulcer prevalence is used to gauge progress toward the goal of hospital acquired pressure ulcer elimination. Nursing staff physically inspect each patient’s skin to identify pressure ulcers. This study is conducted to clearly identify the extent of pressure ulcers and to provide guidance for efficient and effective corrective action for facilities to improve their outcomes.
