The students of Keiser University’s Orlando Campus Exercise Science and Sports Medicine and Fitness Technology (SMFT) departments were recently provided the opportunity to visit the Montverde Academy’s Strength and Conditioning Department.

Head strength and conditioning coach, Tim Crowley spoke to the students relating to his vast experience training athletes and about the process of creating and implementing a strength and conditioning program. He then led the group through a series of functional movement exercises that can be applied to athletes of all sports. He demonstrated how different technologies such as bar Sense, Vertimax, and Keiser pneumatic equipment are being used to enhance both athletic development and recovery. Coach Crowley very graciously introduced the students to Cleveland Indians’ shortstop Francisco Lindor, a Montverde Academy alumnus. He shared that athletes from the program that have become professionals still visit and use the facility, and that has become a motivational factor for the high school athletes.

“The fieldtrip was a great experience that was fun and informative. Students from the Exercise Science and the SMFT Departments will now have opportunity to enjoy externships at Montverde Academy. We look forward to a growing relationship between our institutions,” said program professor Dr. Stefane Dias.
