Grab some lunch and join the RSC for Dr. Lawren Mundy’s presentation: “Impact of Clinical Experience at Indigenous Health Centers on WHNP Students’ Cultural Perspectives.”
This training examines the impact of clinical experience at Indigenous health centers on the cultural perspectives of Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) students. Immersive learning experiences in these settings enable students to develop a comprehensive understanding of Indigenous health practices, beliefs, and community needs. The results indicate that engagement in culturally specific care environments promotes increased cultural awareness, improves patient-provider communication, and prepares WHNPs to deliver more equitable and respectful care. Such experiences are pivotal in fostering culturally competent healthcare approaches and addressing health disparities within Indigenous populations.
