Keiser University Tampa Campus learner Terryl Humphrey has always been driven to support and lift others, so when he realized he could turn his passion for podcasting into a business, he didn’t hesitate to take action.

“My inspiration was always to help others, and while serving in the United States Marine Corps, I found my passion,” Humphrey shared. Today, he uses podcasting not only as a creative outlet but as a tool to guide others toward becoming the best version of themselves as they overcome adversity.

Discovering a Purpose Through Podcasting

For more than five years, Humphrey treated podcasting as a hobby. He enjoyed creating content but didn’t yet see its potential as a business or a platform for meaningful impact. Through trial, error, and plenty of setbacks, he discovered that he could help viewers transform their lives. That realization became the foundation of his future career.

Finding Support and Direction at Keiser University

When Humphrey enrolled in the Business Management program at Keiser University’s Tampa campus, he discovered that the journey would lead beyond a degree path, as he connected with many who believed in his success.

He often left class eager to test new concepts in the real world. Sometimes he misunderstood. Sometimes he failed. But every attempt brought him closer to clarity.

“KU wants you to thrive. And by any means, you can succeed,” he says.

Building a Podcast Production Business from the Ground Up

Today, Humphrey has launched his ‘Failure is Knowledge’ podcast as well as a growing podcast production company, which he aims to make fully profitable before graduating in May 2027. His mission goes beyond producing shows, as he wants to help others turn their own setbacks into success stories as they listen to guests who share how they’ve risen above their own challenges.

Humphrey envisions leading a team, expanding his company, and becoming one of the most influential podcasters in the world—not for fame, but for impact.

A Mindset Rooted in Persistence

Humphrey’s philosophy is simple and powerful as he and his guests encourage others to embrace failure. “No matter the failure,” he says, “I learned to show up.”

That mindset has shaped his journey, his business, and his approach to helping others.

Looking Ahead

As he continues to grow professionally, Humphrey’s goals are to build a profitable podcast production company while using his platform to inspire resilience and transformation.

He wants to be a voice that reminds people that failure isn’t final but serves as a foundation for growth.

“KU is a great place to get educated,” Humphrey said. “The professors are knowledgeable, the information is challenging but not impossible, and the lessons you learn are meant to be implemented. When you take what you learn back to your professors, they help you refine it. That’s how you grow.”
