College of Golf students recently hosted a golf event to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which provided valuable opportunities to gain experience in event marketing, the dissemination of tournament rules and regulations, the use of Golf Genius software, scoreboard completion, prize distribution, and more.
“The class did a great job, and it gave them a practical, real-world experience you can’t simulate in a classroom. Everyone enjoyed the day, and the two-player scramble format for the competition was very popular,” said Professor Frank Longabucco of the event, which was played at the PGA National Resort and Spa’s Estates Golf Course.
Twenty-six students participated in the event, which raised $95.00 for Cystic Fibrosis. Tournament winners were Tyler Rivers and Colton Kenagy with a score of 67. Sophia Merriam won closest to the pin.
My instructors believed in me. They were more than instructors, they tried to get to know you as a person and tried to understand your goals so they could push you towards them. Student services helped me find a job before I even graduated. Everyone was dedicated to my overall success.
