In recognition of the International Day of Yoga on June 21, some of Mr. Graifer’s students in the Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine and Fitness Technology Stress Management course at Keiser University’s Jacksonville campus, took to the mat to experience the benefits of yoga as an aid to relieve stress.

Yoga is a practice of physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation unified to create a sense of “inner peace” and overall wellness. Yoga is an ancient practice that takes many forms, but the goal is always the same: becoming well in body, mind, emotions and spirit.

There are many outlets for stress relief available for people to use, and one should always choose what makes them feel the best. Yoga is but one powerful tool in a course filled with great exercises to enhance the knowledge of Keiser University’s students as fitness professionals.

With dozens of different types out there, yoga burns calories, strengthens muscles, improves flexibility, can reduce injury, helps relieve stress, promotes relaxation, and provides a total mind-body workout.
