Grab some lunch and join the RSC for Dr. Maruti Gudavalli’s presentation, “Ultrasound evaluation of spinous separation distance during different traction forces in the lumbar spine in prone position.”
This presentation explores how ultrasound imaging can be used to measure changes in lumbar spine anatomy during graded traction forces in the prone position. The study quantifies spinous process separation at multiple lumbar segments and examines how increasing traction forces influence spinal mechanics. Findings demonstrate a non-linear increase in separation distance with higher forces and highlight potential relationships with body mass index. These results provide important foundational data that may inform future research on traction therapy and its clinical implications for patients with low back pain.
