As a legal studies student in 2017, Dr. John J. Fakhouri had his sights set on a career in criminal law. However, a serious injury and the transformative journey of recovery that followed would ultimately redirect his passion, causing him to focus on new professional goals.

“The care I received not only alleviated my pain but also opened my eyes to the life-changing impact chiropractic can have,” said Fakhouri of the shoulder injury he sustained during exercise and the beneficial treatments that followed. “That experience was transformative, as it inspired me to shift my entire career path. I left law school to pursue chiropractic, driven by a desire to help others find the same healing and hope that I experienced,” said Fakhouri.

While searching for educational programs in the field, Fakhouri said it was the evidence-based approach and status as a newer program that made Keiser University’s College of Chiropractic a good fit, as it offered the unique opportunity to be part of an innovative and evolving academic environment. In addition, the opportunity to connect with program leaders reinforced his belief in the program’s direction.

“Before enrolling, I had the chance to meet some of the faculty and staff, and I was genuinely impressed by their passion, vision, and commitment to student success. That experience gave me confidence that Keiser was the right place for me to begin my chiropractic journey,” said Fakhouri.

Fakhouri shared that he’s grateful to have gained a strong educational foundation despite the learning challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Much of my early coursework took place remotely, and although I couldn’t attend in person at the time, the faculty went above and beyond to deliver a meaningful and engaging education. Their adaptability and support ensured that we didn’t fall behind, even in uncertain times. Once I was able to attend in person, the hands-on clinical training was exceptional. The real-world experience I gained in the student clinic solidified my skills and confidence and truly prepared me to succeed as a practicing chiropractor,” he said.

Now launching his new Vibrant Vertebrae Spinal Injury and Pain Relief practice in Lake Worth, Florida, Fakhouri and staff are welcoming patients from near and far as they provide a comprehensive range of services, including spinal adjustments, diagnostic X-rays, rehabilitation exercises, physiotherapy, shockwave therapy, posture correction, and more.

“My goal is to create a welcoming space where patients feel truly cared for and supported,” Fakhouri said. “I look forward to growing the practice, expanding our reach, and, most importantly, helping people experience healing and a better quality of life through chiropractic care.”

While reflecting on his journey, Fakhouri encouraged others to look inward while holding on to their big dreams.

“The path to your goals won’t always be easy or straightforward, but consistency and resilience make all the difference. Surround yourself with people who support and challenge you, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone; that’s often where the most growth happens. Most importantly, stay connected to your ‘why.’ When you have a clear purpose, it becomes much easier to push through the obstacles and keep moving forward,” he smiled.

About Keiser University’s College of Chiropractic

Consisting of ten semesters of study, which are completed over 40 months, Keiser University’s Doctor of Chiropractic program combines traditional lectures with small group learning, weekly conferences and seminars, laboratory and experiential sessions, and clinical training opportunities.  All coursework includes case-based relevancy for chiropractic practice as a portal-of-entry profession dedicated to excellence in spine care. Throughout the ten semesters of study, a number of cross-cutting themes are embedded within the courses, enabling students to integrate learning around a clinically relevant framework.  These themes all focus on the role of chiropractic as a conservative clinical approach to spine care, and include chiropractic sports medicine, chiropractic geriatrics, and chiropractic general practice, as well as other cross-cutting themes such as wellness and health maintenance; ethic, professionalism and life-long learning; and, the role of the chiropractor as a team member in mainstream healthcare and public health.  The Doctor of Chiropractic Program emphasizes the promotion of evidence-based health care, inter-professional collaboration and practice, and the highest standards of professional ethics.
