Students, alumni, family, and friends got a chance to learn self defense taught by professional martial artists from American Top Team during a recent Health and Fitness Expo at the Keiser University Orlando campus.

 

TeamMaster Tarsis da Gama Paula Neto, a third degree blackbelt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a world class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor with multiple championships in his division, and Master Márcio Pimentel, a Judo blackbelt, Judo Olympic coach, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt joined the campus’ Sports Medicine and Fitness Technology (SMFT) and Exercise Science programs for the event.

 

During the expo, Master Pimentel and Master Tarsis led students, their family members including children through several exercise and Jiu-Jitsu sessions, where they learned safe and effective methods of self-defense that have been proven effective in dangerous situations.

 

Also, the SMFT and Exercise Science students also wrote Stress Assessment forms to evaluate help participants reduce their stress levels and improve their quality of life.
