Students in the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physical Therapist Assistant programs at the Miami campus of Keiser University recently participated in a course seminar on Kinesio taping. OTA Program Director Antuanet Ruiz, a Certified Kinesio Taping Faculty (CKTP), directed the course which provides lab time for attendees to practice their skills on new concepts through a variety of clinical applications.

The Kinesio Taping® Method is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. It allows for extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting.

Students participate in lab sessions, to practice screening and muscle testing created for the enhancement of their Kinesio Taping skills and muscle applications for both the upper and lower body. Upon successful completion of this course seminar, students will be eligible to take the exam or receive a CKTP certificate upon successfully passing their boards.
