Students and faculty at the Melbourne campus invoked their poetic muses for the April Poetry Slam Deux, the second of such events in the past year. Poets presented original work, while the audience rated each one to determine the winner in this literary competition.

Jorge Alcoba, a B.A. in accounting student, won with his poems “Good vs. Evil” and “A Lesson Learned.” Other presenters included students Elizabeth Bergeron and Vincent Ridgeway, with faculty members Sally Hudson and Rhonda Wetherington also offering recitals.

“Another great slam,” effused Rose Farhat Goodson, Director for the Medical Assisting program. It was particularly appropriate to hold the event in the on-campus library in conjunction with the National Poetry Month celebration there. The Melbourne Poetry Slams plan to continue each semester.
