Students in Dr. Cruz-Espaillat’s Anatomy & Physiology class at the Miami campus attended a medical education symposium and dinner with the topic being, A Virtual Reality View: Advances in Assessment and Individualized Treatment of Geographic Atrophy. They used new technology, which utilizes virtual reality to enhance practice-based learning. The students were able to understand the pathophysiology and treatment for dry macular degeneration.
