All three cohorts gather from the nursing program at Keiser University in Sarasota to learn more about the Gulfcoast South Area Health Education Center on tobacco cessation program.  Ansley Mora, Tobacco Training & Education Coordinator spent time with the nursing students to provide them with teaching strategies on how to help patients eliminate dependence on tobacco.  The students will be conducting a health fair in April as a result of this training.

Sarasota’s Nursing Leadership class lead the Basic Med Surge class in the simulation lab.  Together the students learn how to manage patients with declining health conditions. Mrs. Terri Eartly, nursing faculty in Sarasota says, “we use our simulation program to augment what the students are learning in class and clinical in an effort to mature critical thinking processes. Simulation offers a wonderful opportunity for students to learn in a non-threatening environment.”
