OTA students in the Pembroke Pines Therapeutic Media class put an interesting and creative spin on their projects for teaching and learning competency.  Students demonstrated their creativity, critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills through the development of community models. Birdhouses were used as a tool to create the models with designated themes such as hospitals, restaurants, schools and supermarkets.  Students explained how the skills acquired during their craft project can be utilized in a variety of occupational therapy treatment settings. The therapeutic media class brings together ingenuity as well as scientific analysis that will enable patients to get back to their lives. We are training the future OTAs that truly put the “fun in functional”.  OTA therapeutic media Aug. 2015 (1)
